JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the school site principal
and the Director of SPED, the SLP will screen, evaluate and provide
treatment for students with a variety of communication needs
including but not limited to speech sound disorders,
receptive/expressive language impairments, social language
deficits, voice disorders, and fluency disorders; monitor, assess
and adjust treatment in response to student needs and progress;
meet, consult and confer with parents, staff, faculty,
administrators, and others concerning the speech, language and
other communication needs of students. MAJOR DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate
services to individuals with a wide variety of speech, language,
and swallowing differences and disorders within the above-mentioned
domains that range infunction from completely intact to completely
compromised Integrate the highest quality available research
evidence with practitioner expertise and individualpreferences and
values in establishing treatment goals Utilize treatment data to
guide decisions and determine effectiveness of services Integrate
academic materials and goals into treatment Serve on multitiered
systems of support (MTSS)/response to intervention (RTI) teams to
help studentssuccessfully communicate within academic, classroom,
and social settings Serve as case manager, service delivery
coordinator, members of collaborative, multidisciplinary team Serve
on early intervention (TK) and school pre-referral and intervention
teams to assist with thedevelopment and implementation of
individualized education programs (IEPs) Discuss, evaluate, and
address negative emotions and thoughts related to communication
disordersincluding but not limited to: articulation/phonological,
language, fluency, and voice disorders Educate parents, teachers
and other school-based professionals about the clinical markers of
languageimpairment and the ways in which these impairments can
impact a students reading and writing skillsto facilitate early
referral for possible evaluation and assessment services Educate
parents and school personnel about the SLP role in addressing the
semantic, syntactic,morphological, and phonological aspects of
literacy disorders across the lifespanAdminister standardized
and/or criterion-referenced tools to compare individuals with
theirpeers. The assessment process can include, but is not limited
to, culturally and linguistically appropriate behavioral
observation and standardized and/or criterion-referenced tools; use
ofinstrumentation; review of records, case history, and prior test
results; and interview of the individualand/or family to guide
decision making Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Conduct
full-scale speech and language assessments including but not
limited to culturally andlinguistically appropriate behavioral
observations and standardized and/or criterion-referenced
tools,review of records, case history, and prior test results; and
interview of the individual and/or family toguide decision making
Drafting of IEPs Understanding and use of evidence-based practices
Prepare and deliver professional development presentations relating
to communicative disorders withinspeech-language pathology Maintain
records and prepare reports Knowledge of Welligent preferred
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working
relationships with others Requirements: Masters Degree from an
accredited Program in Communicative Disorders or comparable
education(must be ASHA approved) Valid California Speech-Language
Pathologist License Valid California Speech-Language Pathology
Services Credential Spanish language fluency preferred, not
required
