Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Discipline: Allied Health Professional - Start Date: ASAP - Duration: 13 weeks - 40 hours per week - Shift: 8 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Title: Nuclear Medicine Technologist/nJob Summary:/n A Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic imaging procedures using radioactive materials to assess organ function and diagnose medical conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, and other abnormalities. They play a key role in assisting physicians with accurate diagnosis and treatment planning by providing detailed images of the body’s internal structures. Nuclear Medicine Technologists operate specialized imaging equipment and ensure patient safety during the administration of radioactive materials. /n/nKey Responsibilities:/n /n - Prepare, administer, and monitor the safe use of radioactive materials (radiopharmaceuticals) for diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures. /n - Operate specialized imaging equipment, such as gamma cameras and PET/CT scanners, to capture diagnostic images of organs and tissues. /n - Prepare patients for nuclear medicine procedures by explaining the process, positioning, and ensuring their comfort. /n - Administer intravenous injections, oral radiopharmaceuticals, or inhalation of radioactive substances as required. /n - Analyze and interpret nuclear medicine images to identify normal and abnormal findings for physician review. /n - Collaborate with nuclear medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement diagnostic imaging protocols and treatment plans. /n - Maintain accurate documentation of patient procedures, imaging data, and radiopharmaceutical usage. /n - Ensure the safe handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials according to regulatory guidelines. /n - Monitor patient vital signs, such as heart rate and blood pressure, during procedures, ensuring patient safety throughout. /n - Stay current on advancements in nuclear medicine technology, imaging techniques, and safety protocols through continuing education. /n /n/nQualifications:/n /n - Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology. /n - Certification:/n /n - Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) certification from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-N). /n - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. /n /n /n - Experience: Previous experience in nuclear medicine or imaging /n Wellspring Nurse Source Job ID 32685367.
