Type: Travel Job description: Unit: CVOR RN Shift: Days - 4 x 10's
- 40 hours Start: ASAP, 13 weeks Other: weekday/weekend and Holiday
call and Rotation (14 call min) Requirements: - Must have 2 years
relevant Cardiovascular OR experience - Must have 1 year of travel
experience - BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Job Objective: Under the
supervision of the Director of Surgical Services and/or the OR
Charge Registered Nurse, is responsible for the nursing care of
patients undergoing surgical and/or other invasive procedures. The
RN shall function under the guidelines of AORN Standards, as well
as the policies and procedures of the hospital. Duties and
Responsibilities: A. Meets all essential duties of a Registered
Nurse. B. Nursing Process 1. Applies nursing process in direct
patient care. 2. Responsible for creating a safe and comfortable
environment for the surgical patient 3. Ensures that patients have
a safe intraoperative period from general, regional or local
anesthesia 4. Provide accurate and ongoing patient assessment 5.
Creation and maintenance of quality care provided for patients
undergoing surgery 6. Allows the patient to participate in his/her
care and respects and carries out wishes accordingly, i.e. decision
to decline blood transfusion, etc. 7. Acts as patient advocate
while patient is impaired either under general anesthesia, regional
or sedation 8. Accounts for sponges, needles, instruments, and
sharps during intraoperative phase. Non-Essential Duties:
Participates on unit or hospital-based committees. Other duties as
assigned, within compliance with Title 22, The Joint Commission,
and CMS. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Knowledge and
application of surgical asepsis and sterile technique. - Knowledge
of proper supplies equipment and instrumentation needed for
surgical procedures, i.e. electrocautery, patient monitoring
equipment, and equipment such as neurological, cardiovascular,
orthopedic equipment during procedures. - Demonstrates competency
in use of the new technologies relating to equipment and
procedures. - Meets all skills and abilities of a Registered Nurse.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. -
Demonstrate ability to supervise care provided by others. About GQR
